Xavier University of Louisiana concluded its Centennial Homecoming celebration with an afternoon of faith, music, and community during the Gospel Concert Extravaganza. Bridget A. Bazile opened the concert with three selections before four-time Grammy Award-winning gospel legend Yolanda Adams took the stage. Adams, known for her extraordinary voice and inspirational music that transcends genres, has amassed 15 albums, multiple Dove Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Stellar Gospel Awards, and BET Awards, making her one of the most celebrated and influential voices in gospel music. The event marked a powerful pairing of two Louisiana voices — Bazile, a Grammy-nominated soprano and one of the foremost interpreters of the Negro Spiritual tradition, and Adams, a Houston-raised icon whose roots trace back to the same Southern gospel heritage.
